This backpack is a workhorse built with rugged fabrics that withstand punishing days in the backcountry and features a mesh-covered ridged foam that allows maximum ventilation while keeping the load close to the body. The Kestrel 38 has a 3.5 mm LightWire peripheral frame that effectively transfers the load from harness to hipbelt as well as an Atilon frame sheet that spreads load across the entire backpanel to the peripheral frame. Speaking of the backpanel, it is designed with AirScape® ventilation that makes hot days more bearable. More convenient features include dual ice tool attachment points, Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole carry, an integrated and removable raincover for wet days, side and front mesh pockets for storing gear, and an external reservoir sleeve for easy access.
