Perfect Balance Between Weight and Durability
This spring I took the greatest leap of adolescence and bought my first tent independent of my family. I knew I needed something that toed the fine line between durability and portability, as I would primarily be using it for river trips and backpacking.
After an extensive and frankly obsessive research process, only the Tungsten 2p met my many demands. After some agonizing, I decided to take the leap, despite never owning a Marmot tent before. I am so glad I did!
My first night in this tent, my dog and I stayed warm and dry despite the inch of snow that fell on top of us. This tent vents in a way that frankly I didn't know was possible and feels relatively spacious for being just a 2 person. I would say it can comfortably fit two average sized people and two medium sized packs.
I have used it now for an entire spring and summer season in the peaks of the San Juans and various river canyons of the Southwest. Never once have I awoken to a drop of condensation nor had it rattle in obnoxious winds. Its quick and easy to set up solo and can pack down incredibly small. The wide open mesh top allows for spectacular star viewing and perhaps best if all, it's a spectacular color! I couldn't recommend this tent enough if you need something light and durable or just want to make a wise investment in an introductory tent. 100/10

I found my "Forever Tent" - Goldilocks Style
This is my 3rd Tungsten: 4p, 3p, and now the 2p
There's a lot to love about Marmot tents, but the Tungsten is something special! Idk what it is, but every time I buy one, I fall in love with it even more; and I keep find more room than I need!
Hence the constant downsize.
Started with the 4p, because I have always struggled with tents not being big enough for guests to enjoy the experience. The vestibules just added so much extra space that the extra room was TOTALLY unnecessary!
That's when I downsides to the 3p. Much better for 2 people and a dog, but I still found I to be too much for the majority of my camping.
Now I'm settled in happily with my 2p, and I think it's my "Forever Tent" ??
Only took a little testing, Goldilocks Style

Durable + LOVE the colors!
I've used this tent about 9 times so far and have loved it! Kept me dry in the rain a few times, and feels spacious for a 2-person tent. The colors are super fun and I love the attachments for the rain fly - the buckles make it super easy to take on & off. I'm 5,9" and love that there's enough space by my feet for a few items or small pack. It's been my go-to since I got it in the spring!

Marmot really delivers with this tent!!
This tent (tungsten 2p) is bulletproof. It's been through the ADK's , the Whites in NH, the Great Smokies, and everywhere in between. I split the weight up with my wife, and at around 2lbs each, (.9kg) you won't find a more durable, reliable piece of equipment worth that weight in your pack. Flash snow storms in may, high wind storms at elevation, and torrential downpours in the ADK's. I've never had a drop of water in it once, and the hardware has held up better than anything I've ever owned. Great gear as always!!

Outstanding value when on sale!
What I liked:
Great value. Fabrics are as good as many tents 2x the price. When this model came out several years ago, it made a big hit. There was a lot of buzz on the pre-bent poles, giving more room b/c of a steeper knee-wall. Trapezoidal floor plan. Many miss this; this is not a rectangular tent. There is nothing wrong with this tent, nicely designed and sewn. Of course, could be improved with stronger fabrics (more weight), more guy attachment points, and crazy stitching, like bar tacks at strategic points. You might ( and might not) see these things on a tent 2x the price.
Marmot: Not sure of the future. 1) I could not get a replacement stuff sack for Marmot down bag I own. 2) I'm on my second Precip jacket and fabric is severely delaminating. No solutions for Marmot. "Lifetime" warranty meaningless. On this tent, the coupon code would not work. I emailed Marmot. Crickets. Thus, even thought this tent is great right now, could be the last item I buy from Marmot.

Bomb cyclone proof
So winter storm Elliott seemed like the perfect test for my new Tungston 2P. 12 hours of hard rain and high winds followed by 29G50 wind all night. Tent stayed put and stayed bone dry. I use my gear year round to access trout streams from Maine to North Carolina in all kinds of weather. This tents a keeper.

Loved it! Held up in a two day storm
definitely recommend this tent! Heavy rain and Lake Superior lakefront winds for 48 hours straight and not a single leak. Warm and the stash pockets are simple but useful, I like the light diffusing light for flashlights/headtorches. Great quality, packs down relatively small, I'm looking forward to taking this with me on future backpacking trips

Storm Tested
Camping at @10,000' in the Cloud Peak Wilderness in the Bighorn Mtns of Wyoming resulted in my GSD & I being in a memorable thunderstorm. Lightning was cracking over Lake Geneva level and below us. The Marmot Tungsten II was water tight, and easy to secure in the rocky terrain. Once the storm passed, the night was pleasant and cool. All other nights spent in the tent were far less dramatic. Great features, easy access, + good ventilation.

Great for Short Backpacking Treks
While not ultralight, this is a great tent for shorter backpacking treks, especially in fair weather. The tent is easy to assemble for one person and comes together in minutes. Great quality and the material on the bottom keeps things dry. Would purchase again!
