Last week i went on a two day backpack in western north carolina. We went to John?s Rock. The first few miles of the hike were great, while most of my attention was focused on the weight of my pack I couldn?t help but notice how comfortable these shoes were. They were perfect for jumping from stone to stone, stepping over roots and even hiking slightly up a rock. These shoes were incredibly light weight. After summiting to the top of Johns rock the hike and weather went dramatically down-hill. It was storming. At first the puddles were small enough to maneuver around and I even made a comment to one of my friends that my feet were completely dry. but by about 4 miles the puddles covered the entire path. you could not go around them. as i walked through the puddles i thought about writing this review because these shoes were outstanding. the hike back was muddy but my feet did not have to suffer the consequences. i love how these shoes are breathable and do not feel or look like a heavy hiking boot.i also like how they do not go all the way up my ankle. next summer i will be going on a three week long backpack in california. These shoes will definitely come along for the adventure. I strongly recommend these shoes for both short, simple hikes and difficult, uphill trails.

Been a Merrell fan for years ... the Moab Ventilator is my go-to shoe in the cold weather months. But I wanted a lighter weight shoe for the warmer months and tried the new Moab Speed and am very happy with it. It has lots of cushioning, it feels right on my feet and I can already tell it will do the job comfortably and with support on my daily walks. My only issue was with the sizing .... I always wear a 91/2 in my Moabs but needed to get a size 10 for this new model. Between the toebox not being as high as my other Moabs and all the extra cushioning, my feet were crowded in my usual size and I was glad I exchanged my purchase for the larger size. Happy with my new shoes!

After having ankle replacement surgery I needed a shoe that would work for my PT, my hikes to get me back on the trail, and ironically for work. I teach at a military school and on my feet all day. I am an honorary COL in the army and could not wear my uniform shoe for several months. These solid black hike shoes fit the bill as uniform dress is strict in the army. They fit perfectly, gave me a lot of standing and walking support, and as mentioned I used them for PT. What a great shoe! I love them. Healing quickly but they are still my go to shoe for on the walking trail.

Bought the speeds a couple of weeks ago and I love them. I?ve wore them bouldering and semi rocky terrains. I haven?t had any issues with them coming untied as another review said. I also really like them because they aren?t bulky but I still feel comfortable on the trails. Also they?re really sticky, that was important to me so I?ve been putting them to the test. I used to have the moabs which I loved but they?re heavier than what I was needing. Overall super comfy.

These shoes are so comfortable right out of the box. Being waterproof I tend to wear them most often this winter. I?m definitely getting another pair for summer

I have been a Moab fan for years. I recently bought the Moab Speed to replace a pair with that still looked great but had many miles on them. The Speed has the same excellent fit, arch support, and ?straight out of the box? comfort as my old pair with the added benefit of having a footbed with a more ?cushiony? feel to it. I absolutely love them!

I walk and stand all day on concrete so I gave these a try and it feels like someone discovered how to harness cloud and sandwich it into the layers on my shoes but that?s probably not right. I?m wearing these 3-4 days a week so my other shoes don?t get jealous

Moab Speed has been out on short hiking trails around town, and like my other Merrell?s, will hopefully go international later this year! Lightweight, excellent trail wandering shoe. This is the shoe that gets you back out exploring the world this year!

The toe box is very roomy - I have average width feet and have plenty of room - I think they?d be great for someone with wider feet.
The soles are super grippy, they do all the work when hiking on a slope.
I hiked in them out of the box, no break in period to speak of, no blisters.

These shoes are great for hiking! We just went on a camping/hiking trip here in PA and they were perfect! I felt very well supported through my arch and ankles, traversed through slippery terrain and never felt unsteady with the sturdy sole, and they easily wipe off clean after being on muddy trails.
