Nordica Men's Hell N Back Hike EXP Ski Boots '12
The Nordica Hell & Back Sidecountry ski boots are built for downhill performance first but provide features that allow the ability to pursue new adventures into the ever expanding resort backcountry. The boot line is equipped with an automatic hike/ski mechanism incorporated into the top buckle. When the buckle is opened to hike mode position, the boot’s upper cuff dis-engages allowing easy uphill hiking, walking or skinning. Simply close the buckle back into ski mode and you’re immediately ready to ski making the boot flexible and easily adaptable to differing uphill and downhill requirements. The 45 Degree Heel Retention offers more control, forefoot comfort, and the easiest entry and exit regardless of temperature. The Hell & Back has a completely redesigned shell to address today's more lateral skiing style as well as an overall progressive flex. It also features a new Dual Density Full Shock Eraser for the maximum dampening of shock and impact on the heel, toe, calves, and shin without effecting performance. 100mm last. With an all new shell design, comes a new way to measure performance. Instead of just one number representing the flex, Nordica has begun adopting the Dynamic Performance Code to measure three performance parameters. Stiffness (1-20) measures the amount of force needed to bend the boot forward. Progression (1-3) is how much stiffer the boot gets as it is flexed forward. Rebound (M=slow, H=medium, E=fastest) is how quickly the boot returns to neutral from its deepest flex. The stiffer the boot, the higher the transmission of power to the ski. The Hell & Back Hike EXP has a flex rating of 13.5. The bigger progression, the stiffer the boot behaves through the forward flex allowing the most precise load transmission of the ski. TheHell & Back Hike EXP has a medium progression rating of 2. The higher the rate of rebound the faster the boot returns, enabling a quicker turn and ski edge change. The Hell & Back Hike EXP has a slow and controlled rebound rating of M.
