The Surftech Gerry Lopez Manu-Kai Race 12'6 Stand Up Paddle Board is a race board which incorporates a lot of displacement hull features, which help in navigating bump. A wider nose than most race boards and a full displacement bow, this SUP is a great choice for downwind conditions or in a surf race. It was built for the Battle of the Paddle Elite race…a lot of in and out through the surf. Great flat water paddler, and will float a big guy easily. A displacement hull requires the least amount of effort to move through the water. Many of the race boards on the market use planing hull which need some strong paddling to get up to speed. Sailboats all use displacement shapes because often the wind is light and they will still glide nicely, so it makes sense to shape those features into the Manu Kai for the best possible paddling experience.
