Need to make replacement sip nipples / bite spouts
I bought my 40 oz with the wide mouth straw lid. Twisting a lid/cap on and off is not very appealing. After about 4 months the bite spout was cracking like old dried out skin. It's not appealing to drink out of yet I make do.

I find it rather odd that Hydro Flask would make "Color Bands" to express one's true personality and unique style for $5.99. Yet they don't make any replacement bite spouts.

I'd welcome seeing a 4 pack of replacement bite spouts for $5.99 instead of the color bands.

I feel it's such a "waste of resources" to have customers buy a complete "Wide Mouth Straw Lid" instead of just the bite spouts. Was this a "design obsolescence" intention?

Love it for me. Not so much for the kids.
Love our Hydro Flasks! The straw is convenient and well made...if you can resist the urge to bite the straw. Unfortunately my kids cannot. On the packaging it says "hard rubber to withstand bite marks" this is untrue. My 1 and 2 year olds have bitten through 2 apiece. The whole straw part should be made of the hard plastic only. I didn't want to spend another $15 on new ones so I just ripped off the offending rubber. Works the same!

Wide mouth straw lid
First of all....I'm a Hydro Flask FAN of the first order. Love the darned things and have a half dozen of em. That being said...the straw lid needs some design changes. The mouth piece gets "gummy" pretty fast. And let's face it....that's gross!!! I believe the mouth piece would benefit from being hard plastic as opposed to the soft variety. Easier to clean and would not deteriorate as quickly. If they don't want to make hard plastic, how about offering a replacement mouth piece as opposed to the whole enchilada replacement? Makes better sense environmentally speaking. Are y'all listening to user opinions?

Love how it works!
I've purchased 3 of these and so far, 2 of them, because of condensation, have black mold spots on the rubber which cannot be cleaned off.....looks gross. Is anyone else having this condition?

Black spots/ Mold on straw after six months
After using the straw for approximately six months, i am seeing mold grow on the tip of the straw. You can wipe it away but it just comes back the next day because its constantly wet. Not sure if warranty would cover it, but im assuming some sort of coating on the straw wore out which is why the mold is only showing up now, six months after purchase. It is psychological thing where every time you drink from the straw you might be swallowing mold. Other than that, I have been really satisfied with the straw lid. I am now looking to purchase a new lid and just so happened to run into these reviews with the same mold problem. Hope this helps.

this mouthpiece deteriorates fast.
I LOVE Hydro Flask. But I believe this mouthpiece still needs some material improvements. After about 7 months of daily use of 80% cold beverages and 20% hot ones, the rubber part of the mouth piece (the one in contact with the mouth) has deteriorated to a state of guey half/melted pieces. I have to admit the rubber part had been chewed by a 1 year old before it started to seriously fall apart, although it was in an already sorry state, it wasn't melty and sticky yet. Secondly, the straw doesn't always stay attached to the connector, multiple times I had to unscrew the lid and reconnected it pushing it well in. This isn't really a big deal, but for these top notch bottles there is still a bit of road to cover for a top notch straw mouthpiece.

Super Cheaply Made
I had my original hydro flask stolen along with the older style straw lid and it was amazing. I went to go buy a new one and a new straw lid and the flask itself remained the same quality but the straw lids are trash. They don't hold a seal they feel super cheap, there made of a really cheep plastic with no rubber inserts anywhere anymore and I've had to return 3 just to get one that will actually suck up water. Even the gentlemen at Scheels was disgusted at how many has been returning. HUGE STEP BACKWARDS! Bring the old ones back or charge way less for a far crappier product not the same amount.

Manufacture Date
After reading many bad reviews, I bit the bullet and purchased one anyway because a straw is just so much more convenient in the gym as well as anywhere else. I read a review on a site a while back that said the issues with the straws not having suction, leaking etc was fixed after a certain manufacture date (I believe after mid 2016). Mine stated 3/2018. You can find it inside the lid on a clock like illustration. (I took a picture). Anyway, it came with two long straws that you have to cut to size. On the packaging it says theres a cut guide on the back; its pretty faint so you have to be around light to see it. I have a 40oz which it said not to cut the straw for but it was extremely hard to suck water out so I just cut a slight angle and it works great! I've drank so much more water since having it for 3 days now.

Cheap and it shows
They work well new, but be warned, these don't last a year with daily use. I've bought two of them over about 18 months and the second just failed. The first thing that failed on both was the rubber. It disintegrates too quickly and started failing after a 3 or 4 months (I don't chew it or abuse it as far as I know). This wasn't the end of the world and I've come up with a solution for when that happened. However, the end game is they start leaking air into the straw and now, for the second time, I'm at the point where I get about 3/4 air whenever I take a sip. For $7 this is an ok value I suppose, but I'd prefer a product that matches the quality and durability of the bottle.

100 % better than the first one !!
I bought the straw lid when they first were introduced. The first release has a rubber like material that turned pasty and sticky. There was air leak when drinking and the rubber mouth piece disintegrated over time. I replaced my straw lids with this updated version and am 100% happy with the bug free version. No disintegrating rubber, no air leaks and the quality is better. great update !... thank you
