How does the Step On system work?
It’s simple: step in heel-first (“heel”), press down the toes (“toe”), and you’re ready to ride (“go”). The system uses three secure connection points—two at the toe, one at the heel—for unmatched control. To release, just pull the heel lever and twist your foot.
Are Step On bindings compatible with any snowboard?
Yes! The bindings feature Burton’s Re:Flex™ baseplate, which is universally compatible with all current mounting systems—including The Channel®, 4x4, 4x2, and 3D®
Do Step On bindings require specific boots?
Absolutely—they only work with compatible Burton Step On boots (or licensed models from DC and Nitro). Standard snowboard boots won’t work.
Do Step On boots fit the same as traditional boots?
Yes—they share the same construction and therefore feel and fit like traditional Burton boots.
How secure and responsive are these bindings?
They offer excellent edge control and a locked-in feel—some riders even say they feel more responsive than traditional strap bindings.
Do they work in powder or in the park?
Yes. For powder, just clear snow from the footbed first. In the park or on freestyle terrain, they perform solidly too.
Is it harder to engage in deep snow or powder?
It can be slightly more challenging if the footbed is snow-filled or the snow is soft, but clearing away snow and using the two-step heel engagement helps.
How do I know I'm fully engaged?
There are two heel engagement positions. The first click (Position 1) may have some heel movement—ideal if there's snow buildup. The second click (Position 2) is fully locked and optimal for riding.
Do I need a leash?
Yes. Each pair comes with a leash designed to attach to a boot’s web loop to prevent runaway boards.
