2nd Street Hike & Bike Trail
This lovely 5-mile paved path runs north to south through the neighborhoods of McAllen. It's smooth and nearly flat, making it a fantastic choice for beginners or those looking for a leisurely ride.
Whether you're on a hybrid, cruiser, or city bike, you'll find it just right. Expect a relaxed one-way ride that takes about 25 to 30 minutes. It's perfect for everyone, including families and those who enjoy evening strolls.
Paseo de la Resaca Community Trail
Take a ride on this nearly 7-mile paved trail that meanders through charming neighborhoods and alongside lush greenery.
The surface is in great shape, but watch out for the midday heat and the occasional overgrown edges. You’ll find some beautiful spots to enjoy, with waterfowl and ducks adding to the scenery, plus some nice shaded areas to take a break.
This trail is perfect for hybrids or road bikes, but casual mountain bikers are more than welcome, too. It’s an excellent choice for intermediate riders or families looking for a longer, peaceful ride.
Mission Hike & Bike Trail
This roughly 14-mile multi-use trail combines paved paths with dirt and singletrack, winding through thorny scrub and cactus. Along the way, you'll encounter moderate climbs, fun rollers, and a few intermediate features.
It's ideal for hybrid or mountain bikes with decent suspension. Riders should be comfortable handling their bikes and prepared for the challenges of desert terrain. You'll also find restrooms, parking, and trail markings, but don’t forget to bring water and familiarize yourself with the routes.
