Product Spotlight: How to Set Up Nidecker Supermatic Bindings

How Do You Set Up Nidecker Supermatic Bindings?

Nidecker’s Supermatic snowboard bindings are one of the most exciting innovations in snowboarding gear. With a unique locking highback, they combine the speed and convenience of rear-entry bindings with independently adjustable straps for a ride that feels just like traditional bindings. Plus, they work with any snowboard boot, so you’re never locked into one brand.

To get the best ride possible, setting up your Supermatics correctly is key. Let’s break it down step by step so you can hit the slopes without a hitch. And remember, Sun & Ski Sports has everything you need to make the most of your ride, from snowboards to outerwear and expert advice from our Outdoor Experts.

Who Are Nidecker Supermatic Bindings For?

Proper Set Up for Nidecker Supermatic Bindings

Tired of bending over to strap in at the top of every run? The Supermatic bindings are perfect for riders who want a hassle-free experience. Just kick in your foot, step down on the heel pedal, and let the highback lock into place. Ready to unstrap? Pull the lever, fold down the highback, loosen the straps, and slide your foot out. It’s that simple! And if you ever need to adjust your straps manually, you still can! These are perfect for deep powder days or technical terrain where a traditional strap-in might be necessary.

How Do Nidecker Supermatic Bindings Ride?

With a medium-stiff flex, the Supermatics are designed for high performance across the mountain. Whether you’re hitting the terrain park, carving groomers, or dropping into backcountry lines, these bindings offer responsive control. But the real game-changer? The energy you save by skipping the hassle of constantly bending over or even sitting down to strap in.

What Are the Steps to Set Up Your Nidecker Supermatic Bindings?

Setting up your bindings properly takes just a few minutes, and it’s time well spent to ensure a comfortable, secure, and smooth ride. With a few simple adjustments, you’ll be ready to hit the slopes in no time. Follow these steps to get everything dialed in:

Step 1: Mount Your Bindings

Start by mounting your bindings to your snowboard as usual. Adjust your stance width, angles, and toe/heel positioning to match your boot size. If you need help with this step, our Outdoor Experts at Sun & Ski Sports are happy to assist. Supermatic bindings are compatible with traditional 4×4 patterns, as well as Burton’s Channel and 3D systems, making them versatile for any board setup.

Step 2: Put On Your Boots

Getting your strap length dialed in is crucial, and the best way to do this is by wearing your snowboard boots. Adjusting your Supermatic straps without your feet in your boots often leads to setting them too tight.

Step 3: Adjust the Toe and Ankle Straps

Once your boots are on, strap in as you would with a traditional binding. Make sure your heel is all the way back in the heel cup. Your straps should be snug, but still allow for minor adjustments throughout the day. Supermatics make this process easy with tool-free strap adjustments. Take a few moments to fine-tune your fit now, and you’ll be set for a smooth ride later. Don’t forget to push the locking tabs into place on the binding buckles until the red “safety” panel is no longer visible.

Step 4: Adjust the Small 3rd Strap Between Your Ankle and Toe Straps

This unique feature helps keep your straps out of the way when stepping in and out. For optimal function, there should be a small gap between the strap and your boot when fully strapped in—about the width of your pinky finger.

Step 5: Go Shred!

Enjoy more time riding and less time strapping in. If you need to micro-adjust the tension of your straps throughout the day, just unlock the buckle “safety” so the red bit is showing, and loosen or tighten them as normal.

Are Nidecker Supermatic Snowboard Bindings Good for Beginners?

Absolutely! One of the biggest challenges for new riders is constantly strapping in. The Supermatic bindings eliminate that hassle, allowing beginners to focus on learning the fun parts of snowboarding instead of fumbling with their gear. Even for experienced riders, these bindings offer a major advantage. They’re responsive, comfortable, and make every run smoother by cutting down on time spent securing your straps.
