Beech Mountain Resort
Located 110 miles Northwest of Concord, Beech Mountain is one of the highest ski areas on the East Coast of the US. It boasts 17 trails, a terrain park, a tubing hill, and a base village with several excellent spots for dining and hanging out. The slopes have a variety to fit all experience levels, including a few challenging trails for expert skiers looking for a fast, steep descent.
Sugar Mountain Resort
Sugar Mountain is the largest ski resort in North Carolina, with 21 trails and eight lifts. It may also be among the furthest from Concord (around 120 miles or two hours and forty-five minutes away). The resort sports a mix of gentle beginner slopes, long runs for mid-level skiers, and even steep areas for experts to ride. It also has tubing parks, ice-skating rinks, and a number of lodging, dining, and shopping areas. At Sugar Mountain, you and the whole family can enjoy winter to the fullest.
Appalachian Ski Mountain
Appalachian Ski Mountain is another excellent ski resort, around two hours from Concord. Known mainly for catering to beginners and intermediates, this 12-trail ski run area is filled with wintertime attractions, including an ice-skating rink, two terrain parks, and cozy lodging areas. Cory has been with Sun & Ski Sports for nearly six years, starting as a Hard Goods Sales Associate before working his way into store leadership. Snowboarding has been a huge part of his life for more than 30 years, and he enjoys helping customers find gear that gets them excited to get outside. When he's not at the store, he's usually mountain biking at Cedar Valley or Brown Mill, riding at Beech Mountain, playing with his band, or finding a way to race just about anything.
