How to Measure
Rider Height Measure your height while standing barefoot against a wall. Height is the primary reference for adult bike sizing.
Inseam Stand barefoot with your feet 6–8 inches apart. Measure from the floor to where a bike saddle would contact your pelvis. This helps confirm standover clearance.
Fit Guidance
Road / Performance Bikes Road bikes feature a longer, lower riding position designed for speed and efficiency. You should be able to reach the handlebars comfortably with a slight bend in your arms. The position should feel efficient, not overly stretched.
Mountain / Trail Bikes Mountain bikes are designed for control and maneuverability. The riding position is more upright and forgiving. You should be able to reach the handlebars easily with relaxed arms and bent elbows.
Standover Fit When standing over the bike frame, there should be comfortable clearance between you and the top tube.
Between Sizes
If you are between sizes, a smaller frame offers increased maneuverability, while a larger frame provides added stability and a roomier riding position.
