What is a twin-tipped wakeboard?

Wakeboards come in several different styles, and some are better to suited for beginner wakeboarding vs. advanced wakeboarding. Some of the features to keep in mind when choosing a beginner wakeboard include:

  • Tips: Most wakeboards being made today have twin tips. A twin-tipped wakeboard is rounded at both ends, which makes it easier for the rider to land tricks and change direction. But you can still find single-tipped wakeboards, which have a pointed nose and squared-off tail. Single-tip wakeboards are designed for riding in one direction, and they are a great choice for beginner wakeboarding.
  • Edges: A beginner’s wakeboard should have squared-off edges, which provide more stability than rounded edges. But advanced boarders who want big air opt for rounded edges. Rounded edges help you go faster, and they are easier to grab when landing jumps, but they are less stable for beginners who aren’t ready to go airborne.
