The Spyder Checkpoint is good over that base layer for that extra warmth without looking all puffy. This Mid layer uses DryWeb Fabric uses polyester microfiber that pulls the sweat away to keep the skin dry. All that means warm and dry for you session on the mountains.

I bought this for skiing. I've loved all the Spyder stuff I've owned, so I got this as a baselayer based on those good experiences. It was an excellent choice. It's comfortable. Versatile. It's fitted enough to wear under other fleece layers, but can also be worn over a wicking shirt. Looks pretty cool, too--at least I think so. I may use it for running as well. I would have given it 5 stars, but I've only worn it once and am not sure how durable it will be (No reason to think it won't be durable, just trying to be thoughtful).
