The North Face Phoenix 2 Two Person Tent is a feathery, freestanding, two-person abode with heaps of head space. The Phoenix 2 Tent features DryWall™ proprietary single skin, Double door and double vestibule, Light and simple clip pitch, High-low venting, PU port on rainfly, Handy loop for hanging headlamps and accessories, and DAC stakes.
DryWall™ is not just another generic house-brand waterproof-breathable tent fabric. It’s a ground-breaking development between The North Face and the top Japanese mill, Mitsui. Now there is a fabric that is inherently fire retardant and eliminates the need to add F/R chemicals to a thick polyurethane (PU) coating, which was previously the standard method of passing CPAI 84 fire regulations in the United States. A thick PU coating has the negative effect of dramatically reducing the fabric’s tear strength and breathability. This fabric has higher tear strength than any of The North Face's existing rainfly fabrics (4 pounds on the Elmendorf, over 100 pounds tensile), an incredible DWR (does not wet out) and great breathability (869 g/m2/24h ASTM E96B), all in a lightweight package (67 g/m2).
