The Shimano WH-RS80-C50-CL Clincher Wheelset features an aerodynamic 50mm deep carbon/aluminum hybrid rim using the same construction methods as the Dura-Ace C50-CL rim but at a more affordable price thanks to Ultegra level hubs. The rim construction starts with a reliable alloy braking surface which turns into a very thin aluminum skeleton as it continues into the rim section. Carbon fiber is then layered over the thin aluminum skeleton for weight savings and incredible stiffness and strength. The Ultegra-level RS80 hubs feature the great design points of the Dura-Ace hubs such as serviceable angular contact bearings, wide hub flanges, straight-pull spokes, and anodized alloy hub shells. 16 front/20 rear double-butted straight-pull bladed stainless steel spokes hold the package solidly together and increase aerodynamics.
