The 2010 Marin Quake 7.8 incorporates a super-burly aluminum frame with a rear Maxle and a 1.5-inch headtube, the ultra-smooth RockShox Vivid 180mm-travel coil shock, or the strong Mavic rims, Marin's Quake 7.8 is a freeride workhorse ready for steep chutes, big hits, and loads of airtime. This rig's super spec is every bit as tough as you are. Up front, you get RockShox' 180mm-travel Domain fork and the rear is handled by their Vivid 4.1 for that coil-damped plushness that freeriders love. Powering all that suspension is TruVativ's stout Hussefelt cranks with an E-13 chainguide along with a slick-shifting SRAM drivetrain. And slowing this rig are Avid 4-piston Code discs with 7- and 8-inch rotors for serious stopping power. Plus, you'll dig Mavic's tough wheels wrapped in Kenda rubber. This is a pretty nice deal for this caliber of bike!

- Correctly setting up the Quad FRS is very important in order to maximize the effectiveness of this leading edge suspension design. While Marin recommends personal tuning for all usage, these guidelines will enable the rider to start from a recommended and optimal setting.
- Regardless of the bike model or rear shock, optimal sag setup for the Quad measured at the rear shock from the dust wiper (located on the shock canister) to the rubber O-ring while the rider is sitting in the position they would normally ride the bike. It is important not to bounce onto or off the bike when measuring sag. Be gentle and roll onto and off the saddle in order to not disturb the sag measurement (lowering the saddle may help). The range of sag settings is provided to tune the ride characteristics and feel of the bike. With less effective suspension designs that rely on more air pressure to counteract BOB, the Quad-Link FRS design requires appropriate sag to be completely functional. More air does not necessarily mean a more efficient ride on a Marin! Note that within the recommended settings, more air/less sag, will translate into a more cross-country style ride for maximum pedaling efficiency. Accordingly, less air/more sag will make for a plusher feel for ultimate bump absorption and control.
- QUAD XC 120: +Firm 25% 12.5mm Sag or Soft 30% 15.0mm Sag.
- QUAD TRAIL 150: +Firm 25% 12.5mm Sag or Soft 30% 15.0mm Sag.
- QUAD XLT 180: +Firm 30% 19.0mm Sag or Soft 35% 22.0mm Sag
