Does shape affect a wakeskate?

Experienced wakeskaters want to know what features can enhance their water tricks. Here are some points to keep in mind when looking for an intermediate-level men’s wakeskate:

  • Shape: Flat wakeskates are less expensive, but concave wakeskates are better designed for tricks.
  • Traction: An EVA-molded traction pad helps keep your feet in place while you are catching air, but a wakeskate with grip tape is prefered by people doing advanced tricks. Don't forget to pick up a pair of wakskate shoes if you use a skate with grip tape, they drain quickly, and will keep your feet from getting chewed up on your new deck all while keeping you glued to the board.

Many Liquid Force Wakeskates, such as the Liquid Force Anthem Wakeskate, are solid intermediate models with consistent performance and durability. The Liquid Force Anthem boasts a 9-ply maple deck, a 3-stage rocker, 2 skate fins, an EVA-molded traction pad, and a forgiving softer rail through the whole wakeskate board.

Remember to choose a bigger wakeskate board if you are a larger rider, but choose the smallest board that fits you comfortably to maximize your wakeskate tricks.

Visit your local Sun & Ski Sports shop for expert advice about choosing from among the different brands and models of intermediate-level wakeskates.
