It took Easton composites design, engineering and testing to create the first no compromises carbon road clincher. The 2011Easton EC90SL Carbon offers braking performance and durability on par with traditional aluminum clincher wheels, but with the reduced weight and enhanced stiffness that only a carbon rim can offer.

Exclusive ThermaTec brake track treatment provides smooth, easily modulated braking power and reduces heat build-up under heavy braking. Easton composites engineers have created a 38mm deep carbon rim with superior impact resistance. Unlike other carbon clinchers, the entire EC- 90SLc rim is molded into its final shape in one process, ensuring superior strength. The Easton EC90SLc is the only carbon clincher rim to survive tests in our laboratory for impact and fatigue resistance as well as our brake track torture test, handling temperatures up to 500 degrees F. Every EC90SLc is entirely hand-built and acoustically tuned in Easton’s own factory. One very nice wheelset!!

• Easton states: We recommend the use of Swiss Stop’s Yellow King compound for predictable braking in all conditions. Brake pads are included with all current carbon wheels. We do not recommend the use of any other pad, and are not responsible for the performance of other manufacturers.

• Which cassettes are compatible with Easton’s Shimano wheels?
• 50 and 70 series Shimano wheels are compatible with Shimano 8, 9, and 10-speed cassettes. 90 series wheels listed as “Shimano” are only compatible with Shimano 10-speed cassettes* when used as originally equipped. These cassette bodies utilize the HyperGlide-Deep serration pattern of Shimano 10-speed cassettes, which allows for a taller spline, thus reducing notching of the aluminum cassette body. 2011 rear wheels are available as SRAM compatible. These wheels are compatible with Shimano 8, 9, & 10 speed, as well as all SRAM cassettes. Replacement cassette bodies are also available to convert any R4/R4SL Shimano 10 speed specific wheel to SRAM(or Campy). Mountain wheels are compatible with all Shimano cassettes. • *Shimano Junior 10-speed cassettes do not feature a Hyperglide-Deep serration pattern, and must be used with a 9-speed/SRAM compatible cassette body.
• **R4SL red cassette bodies are only compatible with Dura Ace 7800/7900. Any R4SL hub equipped with a blue cassette body is compatible with all Shimano 10-speed cassettes.

• Are Easton wheels compatible with SRAM cassettes?
