THE 686® “RECLAIM PROJECT” – MAKING OLD NEW AGAIN™
(BENEFITING THE MATCH ONE FOUNDATION™)
Welcome to Year Two of the Reclaim Project™. Over 15 years ago, 686 was one of the first outerwear companies to introduce recycled polyesters made from plastic bottles into their products. Since then, the have used multiple sustainable fabrications such as hemp and bamboo. This wasn’t enough as far as they were concerned, so they took it a step further, simplifying the process by creating LESS of an impact on the environment. Thus, the 686 Reclaim Project was born. Each year, in America alone, there is over 25 million tons of textile-related waste. On a global basis at the factory level, the numbers are staggering with first quality fabrics, trims and materials unused and thrown away in a landfill somewhere. What the Reclaim Project does is take these new but unwanted pieces and to create a one-of-a-kind product. Our mission is to change the way you think and make you realize that old things can become NEW once again.
FOR THE 2011-2012 SEASON AND BEYOND, THE RECLAIM PROJECT X MATCH ONE FOUNDATION PROMISE TO DONATE ONE JACKET TO SOMEONE IN NEED FROM EVERY RECLAIM PURCHASE YOU MAKE.
***PLEASE NOTE!!!
Since 686 reclaims fabrics and trims that would have normally been discarded, each jacket will look different. The body will always have black, but the color blocking will change per jacket. Consider yourself special!
